Stress Anxiety and Depression

Ever feel like the rollercoaster ride you call life just became the “Tower of Terror”? Do you find that you get irritable & snap at people when you don’t really mean to? You feel low or depressed without any real reason.

Sometimes you might even question your own sanity.

The expectations that are placed on us in today’s society can be so high that we are continually being pushed beyond our tolerance levels. It can lead to frustration and ultimately stress! Your body rebels, organs may begin to malfunction; your memory may fail, you make poor judgements and you ‘snap’ quickly & easily.

And it is not only limited to us as adults. Our children are also faced with an enormous amount of pressure in their daily lives.

There are many types and causes of stress and many possible reasons why it affects you and your family.

If you are feeling stressed it could be a result of one or a combination of the following problems:

Emotional – for example the breakdown of a relationship, the loss of a loved one or pet.

Occupational – shouldering a heavy workload, reaching the expectations others set for you, constantly feeling like you have to perform in your job, sport or profession. Anxiety about losing/keeping your job. Exam stress and meeting deadlines for assignments. Peer pressure.

Financial – concern about paying bills & providing for your family.

Hormonal Imbalances such as PMS, menopause or PND.

Low Blood Sugar - poor or irregular eating habits, inadequate exercise, possible stress related digestive disorders.

Physical - taking on extra work or enduring heavier training sessions.

Getting to the point...

At PinPoint Health Centre we understand that stress effects people in different ways. The individual treatment you receive will be determined by the type of stress you are feeling & the effect it has on you. Generally speaking, after a single treatment you will feel much calmer, more relaxed and aware of balance being returned to your sense of well-being. However, with stress, a course of treatments has a greater effect and is recommended.

So how does it work?

It works by stimulating the body to basically “heal itself”. The stimulation releases ‘endorphins’ or ‘happy hormones’ which make you feel much calmer and more relaxed.
